ESA (Emergency Services Access) Residential Key Box Program
The ESA Residential Key Box Program is designed to give all home owners, family members and emergency services the peace of mind when rapid access is needed to get into a home without using forced entry methods to breaking in. These extreme measures can leave a home with damaged doors, windows or other areas where entry was made and can cost hundreds of dollars to repair. After the emergency, due to environmental and security reasons, repairs must be made before emergency services can leave. Whether it is law enforcement, fire department or EMS that needs to gain access to help a citizen, the ESA Program can provide a quick and rapid entry without accruing damage costs.
This over the door style key box pictured on this page is designed and built to withstand brutal and vicious access attempts by intruders or thieves. It is made by Roper Lock Box (roperlock.com) and are specially configured for our local use. Like the commercial lock boxes, we use on businesses not, the key cuts are only used in our community. They will not fit key boxes in another community do not It is truly easier for burglars to break in through a door or window rather than trying to access the key box.
In many, to common situations, a resident may call 911 or use a life alert button/device to get help. Many times, the customer may only need a simple life assist. Lying on the floor for several hours can be detrimental to your health by restricted circulation and aggravating pressure points. In the middle of a work day when family or neighbors are gone and when there are no serious injuries, the customer just needs a helping hand and access can be made simply and without damaging anything.
There are many other access devices and key boxes available and used. Sometimes life alert devices come with a key lock box and each of those lock boxes are in different locations at the residence and have different combinations to gain access. These are certainly great options and if you are comfortable with continuing to use one of your devices, please do so. We ask that the information be given to the 911 Center before the emergency. Many times, the patient is unable to speak and not able to give the dispatcher or responders instructions or information. Subscribing to Smart911.com is also a recommend method. Check out Smart911.com on line where secure information can be documented in case of an emergency or non-life-threatening situation about your home, family members and emergency procedures.
